DSA B+E Course
Your course will consist of the following.
You will be introduced to
your instructor who will be with you for the course duration.
He will
discuss the specific procedure of your course and allow time for you
to ask any questions.
You will then have the opportunity to practice the uncoupling and re-coupling
procedure for the trailer.
He will then demonstrate how you should carry
out all the safety checks, i.e. (securing trailer doors and ensuring
the load is safe and secure and that all electrical systems are in working
order).
This syllabus is part of the DSA test, and will be conducted
in an off road area.
There will be a reversing exercise followed by a
controlled stop.
The next stage is to perfect your On Road driving skills,
which will include a systematic and Eco style of driving.
You would be
expected to Move off safely, effective observation, an ability to anticipate
a hazard.
The B+E Test
The B+E Towing Test will last for 1.5 hours and will include some show
me, tell me questions.
You will then be asked to complete a reversing
exercise followed by a controlled stop.
The Examiner will then take you
out onto the road for the rest of your driving test.
On return to the
test centre you will be asked to uncouple your trailer and re-couple
your trailer and your examiner will observe your safety checks.
You will
be expected to drive to a high standard throughout the test.
Some example
questions that you may be asked on your B+E test.
Open the bonnet, identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell
the examiner how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic
brake fluid.
Show the examiner how you would check that the direction
indicators are working.
Tell the examiner the main safety factors involved
in loading your vehicle.
Tell the examiner the main safety factors involved
in securing a load on your vehicle Show the examiner how you would check
that your vehicle & trailer
doors are secure.
Tell the examiner how you would check the tyres to ensure
that they have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition
is safe to use on the road. |
